first haircut

After a little incident involving a tangled curl, I decided the time had come to trim up Delaney's hair.

Usually I consult Jeremy on such big decisions as these.
But he was at the grocery store.
So I took things into my own hands. Literally.

It's probably hard to tell much difference. But try to imagine uneven, straggly ringlets. With stringy, sort of straight sides. That's what it looked like before.
Much better now.

I'm still on the fence about bangs. What do you think?

Wordful Wednesday

Last week was a BUSY week!! I had a meeting every night. I took two kids to the doctor (for wellness visits). Jeremy had parent-teacher conferences. I had to make arrangements for grandmas to babysit. And by Wednesday I was wiped out!!

Looks like I'm not the only one who was wiped out.

Right before I took this picture, grandma (aka Gaga...not to be confused with Lady Gaga!!) was sitting next to her.

Yes, it was a busy week!

just a little taste of her true personality

And she's not even 2 yet!!
All I wanted to do was take a picture of her cute outfit before church.
You'd think I was taking her favorite toy away.
Right after this, her body went forward and her forhead was on the floor. A true temper tantrum!!
Not her first.

She quickly got up after the threat of mommy leaving without her was presented.

But back to the outfit, I bought this at a bi-annual consignment sale a few weeks ago. I went on the last day of the sale and most things were marked down to half off. I think I got this outfit (shirt, jumper and tights) for under $4.

It would be even cuter with a smile!!

what i found when i woke up saturday morning

Saturday is our only day to sleep in. And Delaney let us sleep in til 9:00!! Or so I thought. Now I know why she was so quiet. She was busy undressing herself! I walked in to find her diaper on the dresser, and Delaney stripped down naked. What a turkey!

swingin' with big brother

You all know now that Delaney's favorite past time is swinging.
She absolutely loves to go out back and swing.
But she was a little surprised when I took brother out to swing too.

Doesn't that look like a super comfy swing? Perfect weather. Perfect swing. Perfect kids!!

school spirit

Delaney absolutely loves to go on walks. If I even mention the word "walk," she heads to the door. She's a great rider and waves to people and sometimes even sings herself to sleep.

On Thursday, Allison was cheering at a football game. And since the stadium is within walking distance, we killed two birds with one stone.
We got in our exercise AND supported our favorite cheerleader.

Delaney was all kicked back and ready to go with her feet propped up and raisins in hand. She knows how to enjoy a good ride!

Delaney will be a great cheerleader someday (if her daddy doesn't turn her into a soccer star). She loved clapping for the team!

And she was very intrigued by the bluejay mascot.
Until she had an opportunity to get up close and personal.
I guess I'd be intimidated by a giant furry bird too!

a few random post-bath pictures

After bathtime, Delaney likes to hang out with daddy before going to bed.

She's learning how to do the hand motions for "Itsy-Bitsy Spider".

I love baby nightgowns!!

Just being silly.

And since I'm usually the one behind the camera, I don't have too many pictures of me with my baby.

fun at the park

Molly and I took the little kiddos to the play park when they were here visiting for the weekend.
The weather has been perfect for outdoor play! So unlike Kansas in August.
Hayden is just all smiles and loves the camera!
Delaney is a much more serious girl.

But one thing is for sure...

they both love to swing!!

a new favorite food...yummmmm

Delaney was not at all interested in the green beans or bbq rib meat on her plate.
She only wanted mom's corn on the cob. She kept pointing to it and saying "this" (one of the few words in her vocabulary).
I had already eaten pretty much all the corn but she loved nibbling on it just the same.
Maybe next time we'll even try the cob with a little corn on it!!

a couple of fun photos

I'm tired.
It was a long 3 days of teaching kids.
But I wanted to share a couple of pictures.
What a silly girl!!

this and that

I survived the first day of a new school year. I can already tell that it will be a year of challenges. But I know it will also be a year of many rewards!
I always forget how much I stand during the first week of school.
My legs ache. My back aches. Thank goodness I wore my comfy (and very cute) shoes!

**********
Is it weird that Delaney has just now decided (at 16 months old) to suck her thumb? I mean, I begged that child. Pleaded with her every night to take a pacifier or suck her fingers or thumb.
But no.
She was never one for self-comforting. Why should she? She had a mommy around.
So now that I've started weaning her (she only nurses about 5 minutes right before bed), she's decided that her thumb's not so bad afterall.
I guess as long as she's happy, I'm happy.
For now, anyway.
**********
I knew once I went back to work I'd struggle with keeping up in bloggerland. Especially with reading all my favorite blogs. Hopefully when things settle down a bit, I can do a little reading here and there.
Until then, be patient with me.
I'll give some comment love when I can!

so that's what dog food is for

If you are on Facebook, you may already know about my daughter's fascination obsession with dog food.
She eats it by the handful. Every chance she gets.

We do buy lamb and rice so it can't be that bad, can it?

Well it seems that on this particular day, Delaney realized that the food is actually for the dog. And she fed him, one morsel at a time.

an evening at grandma's

We had another fun Saturday evening with Molly and Hayden. It's amazing how much these babies are growing!

There are few greater pleasures for a child than digging through a toybox at Grandma's house.

Delaney decided all on her own to crawl INTO the toybox.

Hayden is now crawling.
Oh, life is going to get busy at their house!!

The cousins still don't know what to think about each other.

"Hey, man. Give me back my shoe!!"
