cruising

We just returned from a fabulous vacation! We took the older girls and went on a Western Caribbean cruise.

We were cruise newbies. So it was particularly great that we traveled along with our friends who are somewhat seasoned cruisers. Thanks J & D for taking care of us and showing us the ropes!

We spent one of our shore days in Cozumel. Jeremy and I went to a national park and got to snorkel and lay out on the beach. The girls went swimming with the dolphins.

For our second excursion we visited Mayan ruins in Progreso.

There was a fresh water sinkhole near the ruins. Fortunately I just had a pedicure because it was filled with little fish who wanted to feast on dead skin. Ewwww!

We had a short beach break after the ruins. It was a great way to cool down.

And not to worry…the ink is just henna.

We took lots of selfies.

We ate great food! Our waiter was wonderful and knew us all by name. So did the room steward. Very impressive. Speaking of impressive, every night after dinner, we found our beds turned down with chocolates and a cute little critter made out of folded towels.

We ate in the dining room each night and then hung out with friends for the rest of the evening. On our last night, Allison and Joseph were goofing around with a silly photo shoot. I caught the process on my iPhone.

And the finished product:

All in all, it was loads of fun! It was great traveling with friends and our adult children!

spring break 2014

Our spring break is winding down. It always gives us that little boost to get us through until summer. My spring break started a day and a half early when I took Allison and a friend to Tulsa to see Miley Cyrus in concert. Note that I dropped them off and picked them up. I’m way too old to attend that concert!

This is them the next morning sporting their new shirts.

And speaking of getting old, I headed to Tulsa in my 30’s and returned in my 40’s. Happy “over the hill” Birthday to me!

A little birthday selfie after lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.

On Thursday Delaney and I took my mom to the zoo. On our way to the zoo, about halfway there, I realized that I left my zoo pass at home. I called Jeremy and he brought it to us. When we arrived at the zoo, we immediately saw that everyone who was on spring break this week was also taking advantage of the gorgeous weather and was at the zoo. I dropped my mom off so she could buy her ticket and went to park the van. Since I have a pass, Delaney and I were able to get right in, leaving my poor mom stuck in a never-ending line. Finally, about an hour and a half later (I’m not joking), she made it into the zoo and our excitement began! I use the word excitement loosely.

This is where we hung out waiting for Gaga.

This little guy put on quite a show!

And of course the obligatory pictures with statues.

We also went to see the new Muppet movie this week and of course watched the newly released DVD Frozen. Jeremy just loves musicals (insert sarcasm) and was a good sport about watching both of these!

Only 9 more weeks of school until summer. Only 9 more weeks until Allison graduates high school! Oh where does the time go?

my brave girl

Delaney decided she was ready to get her ears pierced. She’s been talking about it for awhile, so we agreed to let her go for it. I took her to the mall and we picked out her earrings. April birthstones really are the best!

She was so brave. No tears and barely a flinch. She’s also been a trooper about cleaning them twice a day. Now she’s counting down the days until she gets to wear dangling earrings. The fun just never stops!
