to the 2 young moms at mcdonald’s play place…

Next time you take your little boys (who were very obviously too young to be playing in the play place anyway) to McDonald’s, please skip the chocolate chip cookies. But if you just can’t resist, do NOT let your kids eat them while playing on the equipment. And most certainly don’t pass them out to all the other kids to eat while they play on the equipment. Didn’t you read the sign? Because it was very disappointing when my child (who was following all the rules) came down from the slide and was covered in chocolate!!

Going to McDonald’s on a Saturday afternoon is NOT my idea of a good time anyway. But I had bribed my child and told her if she kept her panties dry, we would go to the Play Place. And she kept her panties dry on Friday, so I had to stay true to my word. But rewashing her clothes because they were stained in chocolate was not part of my plan for the day.

ready for spring

In one week’s time, we had an 80 + degree difference in temperatures. From a record breaking low temp of –16 (actual temperature, not wind chill) to 70’s exactly one week later. Crazy! Only in Kansas do we go from Ugg boots one day to flip flops the next.

After all the snow we’ve had (and trust me, I cherish my snow days as much as any teacher) I’m so ready for some warmer temperatures! Hence the spring header. I sure hope the groundhog got it right this year and we see an early spring!

check out those pearly whites!

dentist

Delaney had her first visit to the dentist. She was such a big girl! She hopped up in the chair and immediately opened up her mouth, without even being told.

I’d been talking it up at home, so she was excited about going. I never took any of my other kids to the dentist at this age, but Nate sees an awesome pediatric dentist, so we decided to go ahead and get Delaney in now.

We got a good report…good spaces, no crowding. She definitely didn’t get that from me!

Hopefully all future visits to the dentist will be just as great!

go shockers

I wanted to share our basketball players and WSU supporters. They’re pretty good (when they have a step to shoot from).

snow

I think teachers are as excited as the kids about getting a snow day. Probably more excited.

We’ve been watching the weather forecasts since the weekend in anticipation for the big snow storm with blizzard-like conditions that was heading our way. And on Monday evening, before we’d gone to bed, Jeremy and I both got phone calls that our school districts had cancelled school for the following day.

Snow days are awesome!! Sleeping in. Not putting on make-up. Watching movies. Playing games with the kids. Eating soup. Drinking hot chocolate. Getting a call at 2:00 in the afternoon that another snow day will follow. That’s what I consider a near perfect day!

You know what’s not so great? Trying to shovel through a 3 foot snow drift that has covered your driveway. With windchills 20 below.

Looks like Jeremy won’t be enjoying snow day number 2 quite as much as the rest of us.
