Christmas party

The school staff went out on Thursday for our Christmas party. We went to Botanica to see the lights (and freeze our booties off) and then went out to dinner.

The lights were really pretty and it’s always good to get away from work and have fun together.

bedtime could be a little tricky tonight

Every morning our routine has become:

1. Eat the advent chocolate (yes, before breakfast).
2. Look for Dexter.
3. Open the advent gift.

Delaney likes routines. And she has been very excited to go out and search for Dexter every morning. And search for the correct number on the advent gift. Today she was not so excited to find where Dexter was hanging out.

This is a shelf in Delaney’s room. You might think she is concerned about Dexter’s cross-dressing habits. However, the thing that upset her the most was the fact that Dexter is IN her room. The first thing she said shouted was, “I can’t sleep in my room tonight!”

Can’t wait to see how bedtime goes tonight! And now hopefully Dexter knows to stay out of Delaney’s bedroom!

our sweet little angel

Tonight was our children’s Christmas program at church.

IMG_0698

The preschoolers were lambs in the program.

IMG_0700

Delaney can be a terror at home, but for other people, she’s usually pretty well-behaved. Thank goodness! But I would never call her an angel. Except for tonight.

IMG_0709

Delaney was the angel in the manger scene. She took her role very seriously!

IMG_0726

Following the program, we had our annual church Christmas dinner. And at the end of the dinner, the preschoolers sang a few songs.

IMG_0745

Delaney was not quite so angelic at this point. We had been at church for almost 3 1/2 hours with no nap and she was tired! Even though she knew the words to all the songs, she hardly sang. And to top it off, the fur on the bottom of her dress had flipped up, which made her dress too short. She may have even pulled up her dress to expose her undies. Very un-angelic!

But there were several other kiddos who made up for Delaney’s silence. The kids did a great job!

birthday celebration

With the parade on Thursday, we weren’t really able to celebrate Bri’s birthday on her actual birthday. We did eat out at DQ and had ice cream treats. But we waited until the weekend to really celebrate.

Double decker cookies from Sam’s are a family favorite. Thanks to my friend Amy, who went with me to Sam’s, since I don’t have a membership!!

seventeen

IMG_0638

Yesterday was Bri’s seventeenth birthday. It’s hard to believe my girl is growing up so fast!

IMG_0642

IMG_0643

Delaney wanted in on the action and was a good helper!

IMG_0644

Bri opened her presents before school. That’s one sure fire way to get her up and around in the morning!!

IMG_0647

Then on the night of her birthday, we went to the Christmas parade.

It was pretty much the same parade as last year. Except this year Bri actually showed up for the parade!! You may remember that she was a no-show at last year’s parade.

IMG_0669

It was really cold so the kids pretty much stayed in the back of the van for the duration.

Happy birthday, beautiful girl!

We were so excited to see my uncle Craig, cousin Ashley and her twin boys, Boston and Brody!

We waited in a super long line to see Santa after the parade. Delaney was anxious to tell him her Christmas list. However, when we finally made it to the front, she freaked out and refused to sit on his lap. I’m not surprised. Just disappointed that I missed my free Santa photo opportunity.

In other news, we’re still having a blast with Dexter. Every morning I report to my kids at school about where Dexter was hanging out. A couple of kids in my class have an elf of their own. And I’m seriously considering an elf at school.
